ACCORDING TO IUCN WORLD CONSERVATION CONGRESS; BOTH PROTECTING THE NATURE AND DEVELOPMENT IS POSSIBLE
TEMA Foundation speeded up its works on international level. As a member of IUCN- World Conservation Union TEMA Foundation has presented “TEMA-Macahel Rural Development Project for the Conservation of Natural Heritage” and given a lecture on “Mobilizing the Civil Society for the Protection of the Nature” in World Conservation Congress.
TEMA Foundation has participated 3rd IUCN World Conservation Congress with a committee constituted by A. Nihat Gökyiðit, Director of Executive Committee, Vahide Gigin, Member of Executive Committee, A.Yeþim Erkan, Director of Communications and Prof.Dr. Tayfun Özkaya, Ege University Agricultural Faculty Member.
530 events are organized under the three main topics which are “Biodiversity and Loss of Species”, Ecosystem management”, “Health, Poverty and Protection”. IUCN World Conservation Congress attracted 4,899 people from all walks of life and from across the globe, including almost 1,000 of the world’s leading scientists, over 200 business representatives, more than 40 Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Environment, Agriculture, Tourism, 440 journalists from 27 countries as well as hundreds of environmental activists, community and religious leaders.
During the congress, Prof.Dr.Tayfun Özkaya has given a lecture on the topic of “Mobilizing Civil Society in Nature Protection”, while “TEMA-Macahel Rural Development Project for the Conservation of Natural Heritage” project’s documentation film has also been presented. Before the presentation of the film A. Nihat Gökyiðit explained the project in details.
The decisions taken during the 9 days of IUCN Congress have proved that the protection is one of the most important means to reach the peace, to combat against the poverty, to provide food and water safety and to reach sustainable development.
